Spotlight on one piece of work.
Every so often I intend to pick out a work of mine and provide a little background. As you can see if you read my piece entitled Testing Times I am finding glass a useful medium for some of my work.
A recent sculpture entitled Queen of the Night makes use of the contrast between silver and an amazing piece of blue patterned glass. The silver reflects in the glass and the glass reflects in the silver and these reflections change as does the light. The curve in the silver is balanced by the curved edge of the glass. Also there is a slight ripple in the glass that counteracts the crisp edges of the glass and silver and the polished planes of the silver. At the moment I have this set up on the dining table with candles placed behind it; when they are lit the flickering light creates a magical effect.
